Common Myths about Islam Dispelled

Question no.29

First of all, “Allah” is “One God” with no partners, no associates and no multiple forms.

(In the name of Allah the most Beneficent, most merciful)

1. Islam on Jews, Christians and others

And there are, certainly, among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), those who believe in Allah and in that which has been revealed to you, and in that which has been revealed to them, humbling themselves before Allah. They do not sell the Verses of Allah for a little price, for them is a reward with their Lord. Surely, Allah is Swift in account. ‘(Qur’an 3:199)

2. Islam on Charity:

Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه) reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ – Sallallaho alaihi wa’sallam) as saying: A servant says, My wealth. my wealth, but out of his wealth three things are only his: whatever he eats and makes use of or by means of which he dresses himself and it wears out or he gives as charity, and this is what he stored for himself (as a reward for the Hereafter), and what is beyond this (it is of no use to you) because you are to depart and leave it for other people. This hadith has been narrated on the authority of al−’Ala’ b. ‘Abd al−Rahman with the same chain of transmitters.

(Sahih Muslim, Book 42, Hadith Number 7063)

3. Islam on one’s conduct and behavior:

Anas b. Malik (رضي الله عنه) reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ – Sallallaho alaihi wa’sallam) as saying: Neither nurse mutual hatred, nor jealousy, nor enmity, and become as fellow. brothers and servants of Allah. It is not lawful for a Muslim that he should keep his relations estranged with his brother beyond three days.

(Sahih Muslim, Book 32, Hadith Number 6205)

4. Refraining from Abusive behavior:

Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه) reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ – Sallallaho alaihi wa’sallam) as saying: When two persons indulge in hurling (abuses) upon one another, it would be the first one who would be the sinner so long as the oppressed does not transgress the limits.

(Sahih Muslim, Book 32, Hadith Number 6263)

5. Islam on Humility and Forgiveness

Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه) reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ – Sallallaho alaihi wa’sallam) as saying: Charity does not in any way decrease the wealth and the servant who forgives, Allah adds to his respect, and the one who shows humility Allah elevates him in the estimation (of the people).

(Sahih Muslim, Book 32, Hadith Number 6264)

6. Ultimate Test and control over one’s self

Anas (رضي الله عنه) reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ – Sallallaho alaihi wa’sallam) as saying: When Allah fashioned Adam in Paradise, He left him as He liked him to leave. Then Iblis (Satan) roamed round him to see what actually that was and when he found him hollow from within, he recognized that he had been created with a disposition that he would not have control over himself.

(Sahih Muslim, Book 32, Hadith Number 6319)

note: Do you think we are created purposeless to have greed for more money, sex, kids then die…….that’s it..….I don’t think so at all!

7. Unlimited Mercy of Allah

Jundub (رضي الله عنه) reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ – Sallallaho alaihi wa’sallam) stated that a person said: Allah would not forgive such and such (person). Thereupon Allah the Exalted and Glorious, said: Who is he who adjures about Me that I would not grant pardon to so and so; I have granted pardon to so and so and blotted out his deeds (who took an oath that I would not grant pardon to him).

(Sahih Muslim, Book 32, Hadith Number 6350)

note: So you still have the doubts on the mercy of Allah…! Human thinking is like drop of water and the wisdom of Allah is like sea & beyond. Can a drop of water have strength to that of sea & beyond, if we compare wisdom.

8. Allah forgives even on the basis of the smallest of good deed and showing mercy to other living things.

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ – Sallallaho alaihi wa’sallam) said, “While a man was walking on a road. he became very thirsty. Then he came across a well, got down into it, drank (of its water) and then came out. Meanwhile he saw a dog panting and licking mud because of excessive thirst. The man said to himself “This dog is suffering from the same state of thirst as I did.” So he went down the well (again) and filled his shoe (with water) and held it in his mouth and watered the dog. Allah thanked him for that deed and forgave him.” The people asked, “O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! Is there a reward for us in serving the animals?” He said, “(Yes) There is a reward for serving any animate (living being) .”

(Sahih al-Bukhari : Vol. 8, Book 73, Hadith 38)

9. Allah: My mercy predominates My wrath

Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه) reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ – Sallallaho alaihi wa’sallam) said: When Allah created the creation as He was upon the Throne, He put down in His Book: Verily, My mercy predominates My wrath.

(Sahih Muslim, Book 37, Hadith Number 6626)

10. In the sight of Allah even the poorest of human beings have respect.

Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه) reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ – Sallallaho alaihi wa’sallam) as saying: Many a person with disheveled hair and covered with dust is turned away from the doors (whereas he is held in such a high esteem by Allah) that if he were to adjure in the name of Allah (about anything) Allah would fulfill that.

(Sahih Muslim, Book 32, Hadith Number 635)

11. Muslims and Prophet Mohammed (ﷺ – Sallallaho alaihi wa’sallam) will be witness for other Prophets and their righteous message to their nations on Judgement Day.

Narrated Abu Said (رضي الله عنه):

Allah’s Apostle (ﷺ) said, “Noah and his nation will come (on the Day of Resurrection and Allah will ask (Noah), “did you convey (the Message)?’ He will reply, ‘Yes, O my Lord!’ Then Allah will ask Noah’s nation, ‘Did Noah convey My Message to you?’ They will reply, ‘No, no prophet came to us.’ Then Allah will ask Noah, ‘Who will stand a witness for you?’ He will reply, ‘Mohammed and his followers (will stand witness for me).’ So, I and my followers will stand as witnesses for him (that he conveyed Allah’s Message).” That is, (the interpretation) of the Statement of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) : “Thus we have made you a just and the best nation that you might be witnesses over mankind.” (2.143)

(Sahih Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 55, Hadith Number 555)

note:  No Prophet will come after Holy Prophet Mohammed (ﷺ – Sallallaho alaihi wa’sallam) – he is the seal of all prophets, so the responsibility of spreading truth has fallen on the shoulders of every Muslim.

“And if anyone of the Mushrikun seeks your protection then grant him protection, so that he may hear the Word of Allah, and then escort him to where he can be secure, that is because they are men who know not.”

(Quran, Surah 9: At-Taubah, Verse 6)

Yet there is no compulsion:

“There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.” (Quran 2:256)

“…Allah makes clear to you verses (of Quran), so that you may THINK & REFLECT” (Quran 2:219, 2:266)

Verily, in the creation of the heaven and the earth, and in the alteration of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding-those who remember [the Guidance of] Allah standing, sitting and lying down on their sides, and THINK & REFLECT about the creation of the heavens and the earth… (Quran 3:190-191)

Narrated / Authority of: Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه)

The Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi Wa Sallam) said: Allah (Subhan Allah Wa’Ta’ala) said: I had prepared for My righteous servants what no eye has seen nor any ear has heard nor any human mind has realized (nor it has occurred to any human heart).

(This Hadith is sound and reported by Bukhari, Muslim,Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah). Later on Abu Huraira said: Recite if you wish: No soul knows about the joy of eyes (pleasure) which has been hidden for them (in hereafter).

“I follow only what is revealed to me, I am only a clear warner” (Qur’an 46:9).
